After hearing all about Alison and how Steve was heartbroken when they broke up, he then met Carly. Carly was working in a supermarket when Steve was there as a manger. She was also younger than him, maybe 15 years or so. He described her as tall, thin and blonde. I imagined that she looked like a supermodel, all the time not noticing these subtle put downs. I recall Steves mum describing me as ‘plain’. To my face. If that didn’t crush me inside then I don’t know what will but theres more about this in later posts.

Back to Carly………Steve told me that she wanted to get married; he told me he had just gone along with it but knowing Steve the way I did, I couldn’t see it but what was I to know? They went to holiday to America where he bought the diamond for her engagement ring and had the ring made for Carly when they got back. The wedding was a grand affair, Carly arrived in a horse and carriage with her Dad who then carried out his duty and walked his daughter down the isle. Steve spent most of our relationship telling me how awful it was to be married and how Carly told him that she wanted to sleep with someone else.

They were only together about a year and half before Carly moved the stuff out of their house when Steve was at work, I don’t blame her for not wanting to face him. I couldn’t help but think how Steve must have been devastated by the breakdown of his marriage and understood why he never wanted to get married again.

The marriage breakdown led to the sale of the house and led to Steve moving back in with his parents. This ‘short term’ move was actually about 15 years in the end.

So there we have it, ex number 2 who also did Steve wrong.
